A beautiful hen who, like her dam, has 11 primary flights in each wing. Her sire (Red chequer, split reduced) is bred from my No.1 stock pair and dam (Yellow bar pied) was a very reliable racer flown out to Mildura 700km. This young hen has all the attributes required to breed exceptional long distance birds.

I have been racing pigeons for 20 years, firstly with the Goulburn club and more recently with the newly formed Crookwell Racing Pigeon Club.

In the country, and especially around the ranges, our birds have to withstand extreme weather events ranging from gale force winds and heavy snow to many consecutive nights of sub zero temperatures. Add to that the relentless predation from peregrine’s dictates that our birds have to be both mentally and physically tough. Inferior birds just don’t last!

Our race liberations very rarely exceed 100 birds and more often than not that number is less than 50, all the way to 600 miles (1,000km).

It’s obvious from the birds listed for sale that I have a strong passion for coloured birds. I thoroughly enjoy this dimension of breeding and racing and the strange looks and comments from the “purists” of the sport. I acknowledge that first and foremost, racing pigeons must perform, looks are absolutely useless if they’re lost in the bush. Make no mistake, with the challenges of country flying I’ve previously mentioned, all our birds whether coloured or plain are thoroughly tested and only the best performed families are retained for breeding.

I regretfully offer my surplus stock birds for sale and hope to inspire another generation of open minded racing pigeon enthusiasts.
